Bubble Shooter

The game known as bubble shooter is probably one of the easiest, yet most addictive games that you can play for hours on end. The object of the game is very simple, you are supplied with a cannon at the bottom of your screen which is loaded with a certain color  ball or “bubble” and you must move your mouse in order to shoot this bubble at another bubble at the top of the screen which matches in color. If you aim it just right and land on target the matching color bubbles (and possibly other bubbles nearby) get popped and removed from the game. Once you’ve cleared all the bubbles you win! Easy right? Well, it’s a little harder and more time consuming that you think so make sure you stay sharp, focused, and try not to get too hooked into the game ;)

Ever since the original bubble shooter game became so popular across the web many different variations of it have popped up with their own unique twist on the basic concept of the game. The original bubble shooter is still without a doubt my favorite and based on the feedback we’ve received from other people it’s their favorite too but there are a few other ones that are worth looking into in case you ever want a change of pace from the original game or in the rare event, you just flat out get bored of it. In the original game the flow is very simple, you are given a canon with with a certain colored bubble. You must then aim this colored bubble at another group or cluster of bubbles that share the same color and shoot it.

If you hit 2 or more of the same colored bubbles then that cluster and possibly even other nearby bubbles of a completely different get popped as well. If you shoot and miss the cluster of bubbles then it gets added to the current inventory on the screen and becomes an additional bubble that must be popped. As the game goes on each stream has more bubbles added and drops lower and lower until it starts to reach your cannon, if the stream makes it to your canons then you lose the game and are given a score to measure your results.

Of course there are a few variations of this original flow, some of the newer bubble shooter games such as aqua bubbles for example give you a constantly flowing stream of bubbles that must be popped before they reach your cannon but they give you bigger “explosions” whenever you match the colored bubbles so where as in the original game you may only knock out a small cluster of 3 or 4 bubbles with aqua bubbles you can actually clear out as many as 15 – 20 bubbles within a single shot of the cannon.

Another spinoff called yeti bubbles has this feature of more powerful explosions but unlike the original bubble shooter or aqua bubbles it doesn’t have the aiming feature for your cannon which makes the game a lot harder because your shooting is off balance and is dependent largely on your own perception. Now depending on how you view this it may be a good thing or a bad thing, it’s good on one hand because it makes the game more challenging but also bad on the other because a lot of times you miss clusters that you know you would have gotten had the cannon had the proper aiming attached to it.

Another spin off of the original game became popular during the 2008 election and it was simply called Obama bubbles. The purpose if this game is really simple and there weren’t any drastic changes to the rules or flow of the game, except that instead of trying to pop the bubbles to eliminate them from the game you’re trying to group together the clusters so that you can collect more votes and of course just like in real life, when the election for presidency. You do that by shooting the bubbles and collecting browny points with voters on issues like monetary policy, religion, and of course grabbing media attention so that you can get your message across. The game has a timer which is set to 60 so you have to collect as many of those point as possible before time runs out.

And we could probably go on all day about the vast number of different versions of the original bubble shooter game but I’ll spare you the repetive and boring stuff and just say that no matter how you like your bubble shooter game, you have plenty of options available. Even if you’re tired of bubbles! There are “bubble shooter” games that replace the bubbles with bugs, baloons, candy, coins, and I’ve even come across a few that were well, lets just say not designed with kids in mind.

Some people find it very difficult to actually win at the game, some will even say that its impossible but the strategy for the game is very simple. One thing you must always keep in mind during the game is that the streams of bubbles will keep dropping towards your cannon throughout the entire game so if one stream is closing in fast then it should be your priority to eliminate that stream, on the other hand you don’t want to waste good opportunities to destroy large clusters if the opportunity presents itself. The key is to find the proper balance between these 2 factors and play the game so that you’re destroying more bubbles than there are coming in within each single stream.

The game can be played here online, downloaded to your MAC/PC, and even on your android or iphone via the bubble shooters apps. Please note that gameplay on your web browser (either by desktop or via mobile device) does require flash in order to work which is not available on all operating systems or mobile phones so consult your manufacturer for more details. Even though bubble shooter can be played on your mobile phone I still recommend playing it on a desktop computer, laptop, or with a large sized tablet such as the ipad, galaxy tab, or any of the other popular mobile tablets. Playing the game on a small screen is very difficult even if you have small fingers, my 4 year old son himself sometimes struggles to play it on my iphone so I’d imagine everyone else would too.
